you can have robert downey jr. et al. we had our own catman, not to make light of homelessness. this man had his cat. during my first stupored year in this city, every morning he stood outside a local college with his black calico persian cat on a leash. there he stood like popeye with a kitty. and when the morning rush hour was over, he knelt down and kitty jumped up on his backpack, clinging for her life, and off they walked to wherever, whatever sidewalk they called home. there cant be any charm mustered from the plight of homelessness, and yet after one year of seeing him and his beautiful cat on a leash every morning, a middle aged woman who appeared to be a nurse could be seen speaking earnestly with him. was she convincing him to give up his cat to a better home? yes, it appears that she was. for now, catman can still be seen by the entrance to the college, backpack and all, but no cat.
