the cafe was packed with a long line. the atmosphere was festive and patient. we had matzoh ball soup, butternut squash soup, lox and bagel, and soy lattes. it was served cafeteria style with the most pleasant attitude imaginable.
Later, wandering the xmas streets, we happened on the Pied Piper Lounge which sports a warm cozy feeling with an imposing amount of wood paneling and a large Maxfield Parrish mural. Tho handsome it is less striking than the one in Bemelman's bar in NYC - the very one that I had visited in my brief youthful visit. (My month at the Lexington YWCA in New York is a favorite fond memory of aimless walking my favorite past time.)We ended the day at the BART station as my daughter said farewell. I was glad to have been able to visit with her again.
