William Spriggs--Professor and Chair Department of Economics Howard University----Switching to cspan saturday morning with Dr. Spriggs saying Martin Luther King always said that we are comfortable being the good samaritan, but being a good samaritan wont work on poverty. "you have to fix the road". Shocking to hear plain talk in the whole mumbo jumbo of charitable funding to "end poverty" in "10 years".
how comforting is that..putting it off for ten years now who believes that?
Dr. Spriggs put it simply.
"There is poverty because there are no jobs." Period. Dont study poverty. dont raise money to study poverty. just end poverty. give people jobs. if the country can't provide enuf jobs then we cannot point fingers at the unemployed and blame them for their state. my feeling is provide jobs or provide a living for everyone. Dr. Spriggs mentions the one trillion dollars we gave to wall street, just gave it to them.
but we wont provide shelter and food, the right to life , for every person in this country.
