road trips

so we are up here in the bay area, and yeah i miss old los angeles where i lived for most of my life, where i once drove a big yellow taxicab (for a short interim) and where i pretty much know the city blindfolded. (just don't ask me to venture into Lincoln Heights territory because that freeway spaghetti is beyond me).
and now my daughter gets the wanderlust to go back to visit but here we are up here in the bay area.
here is a view unchanged that i experienced when i lived on Sargent Court, top of the hill overlooking Chavez Ravine, in old Echo Park area, in 1974. i paid $125/mo. for a beautiful single apt. with a built in murphy bed and brand new gold brocade heavy drapes, which i never closed, overlooking a canyon. i worked as a file clerk for Robert Vermillion at the LA county medical assoc. on Wilshire and Alvarado for $400/mo before taxes. i prevailed in an attempted mugging in MacArthur park on my lunch break, but that is another story and not very interesting either.
some things dont change if you leave them alone.
